Meet John

Hailing from Nemo, Texas, John Hague is an earnest third-year scholar at Vanderbilt University pursuing a triple-major in Legal History, English and the Classics. His foray into the realm of education and its intrinsic value began with a modest, yet pivotal, role at a nonprofit committed to providing books and history lessons to children in his hometown. John has since leveraged his passion for education while interning in government offices, both at home and in the United States Senate.

At GEC, John has masterfully helmed the organization's social media presence and supervised fundraising campaigns before conducting research concerning rural homelessness, the lived experiences of children in Haiti and threats to human rights around the world. He currently serves as the organization's lead Grant Author.

John is steadfast in his belief that education, while transformative, is often neglected in the wake of disaster. During times of conflict and instability, education loses ground to threats perceived as more immediate and violent. John insists that education represents an immediate, essential and unignorable right, especially amid tumult. Bringing a holistic approach to learning that intertwines foundational knowledge with artistic expression and tenets of diplomacy, tolerance and respect, John works to ensure that education offers a harbinger of hope and peace to those who need it most.
